Welcome to the Website of

Worcester Mountaineering Club

WMC is a small club that has, for the last 30 years, provided a forum for locally based mountaineers to share their interest with like-minded individuals.

Most of our members are rock climbers but we also participate in a wide range of associated activities including walking, winter climbing, alpinism, mountain biking, photography and keeping fit on indoor climbing walls.

We meet regularly from 9-00pm on a Thursday evening at the 'Albion' public house on Bath Road in Worcester (map). Some members meet beforehand at the Worcester Climbing Wall. We offer a warm welcome to anyone who shares our enthusiasm for the sport.

If you are like-minded (18+) and would like to find out more please explore the rest of our website, come along to either the wall or the pub on a Thursday evening or contact one of the members listed below for more information.

Please note, however, that although we can offer advice and encouragement we have no facilities or insurance for teaching climbing skills. For this, we recommend Plas-y-Brenin's excellent introductory courses based in Snowdonia, or more locally, those provided at the Gloucester and Martley climbing walls.

" Ye who love the haunts of nature, love the sunshine on the meadow,

Love the shadow of the forest, love the wind among the branches,

And the rain-shower, and the snow-storm, and the rushing of great rivers

Through their palisades of pine trees, and the thunder in the mountains,

Whose innumerable echoes flap like eagles in their eyries;

Listen to these wild tradition, . . . " -LONGFELLOW
